Bike Riding

My favorite time to spend with the family has always been on the weekend. Weekend is bonding time!
A gorgeous 62 acres lake park. A 20 minute drive from where we live.
One of the many things we like to do is bike riding. I remember those days when we took Akesha to San Francisco and crossed the golden gate when she was 1-year old. Now, of course that she's 5, she no longer needs the baby bike seat carrier.
She's been doing great and worked very hard on those pedals! She finished a mile . She got a blue bike from from one of her cousins Aaron, and have been using it recently. She told hubby that she wants to get a pink bike soon...lol!
It was 106 degrees last Sunday. I know, it's scorching hot! The lake park is a great place to go bike riding. We had so much fun that day.

Monte Carlo stars Selena Gomez

This post brought to you by Monte Carlo. All opinions are 100% mine.
I’m sure some of Selena Gomez fans can’t wait to see the movie called “Monte Carlo”, and I’m sure some of you got a ticket already from Fandango. Monte Carlo will be in theaters tomorrow, Friday, July 1st. I would love to watch this movie with my daughter. I think she is going to like this movie, and it’s a great movie for mother-daughter bonding. Monte Carlo stars Selena Gomez as Grace, who turns into an accidental heiress on a summer trip to Paris with her best friend and step sister. Flying off to Monte Carlo for a charity ball and auction, Grace and the rest of the girls find themselves involved in the search for a million dollar necklace that goes missing. Their summer fun turns into a fantasy trip and their fun and fabulous trip turns into a vacation of finding out who they really are. In this movie, she plays two characters – both of which cross paths and then switch places for a bit. It sounds like a very interesting movie to me. Also starring Leighton Meester, Katie Cassidy, Cory Monteith, Andie MacDowell. Directed by Thomas Bezucha. You might also want to visit the official Monte Carlo on Facebook and like their page. So what are you waiting for? Grab your tickets today!

Why I like the Academy Awards

Thanks for the post from Rashad Townsend
My favorite awards show to watch on my www.directstartv.com is the Academy Awards. I am a real movie buff, so I enjoy being able to view my favorite actors get awarded for outstanding performances they give in films. The academy awards also seem to be held in a higher esteem than some of the other awards shows that are sometimes filled with scandalous rumors of unfair voting.
Overall I am usually happy with the actors and actresses that win the individual awards. I also like being able to see the movies that have been nominated for awards. That way I can get a feel for how good some of the movies are that I haven't seen. It is also interesting to see the film makers and actors talk about their work. There are usually some great hosts on the academy awards that really put on a good show for everyone.
The fashion at the show is much more important than some of the other award shows as well. It is interesting to see how much some of the actresses pay for their dresses. Some of them pay thousands of dollars just for one dress that they will only wear one time. I suppose it is important to look exceptionally good at all times if you are an actor, and that is especially true when millions of eyes are watching you.

From Japan with LOVE!

I would like to thank Mami Clang of Kizuna for sending us some goodies all the way from Japan! Thanks a lot Sasaki family!
Kizuna
She sent some kawaii pressies to Akesha. The little miss heart them all. We love the Japanese chocolates. So yummy!
Aside from Akesha's stuff, she also included a silver glittery purse.. Awwww....a gorgeous advance birthday present for me!
Thank you so much dear for being so sweet and thoughtful all the time. You are one of a kind! From the bottom of our hearts, Domo Arigato!

Monte Carlo

This post brought to you by Monte Carlo. All opinions are 100% mine.

Calling all Selena Gomez’s fans! I know you've all been waiting to see her upcoming movie called Monte Carlo. This movie is coming in theaters Friday, July 1st. So what are you waiting for? You should get ready and grab your tickets early at Fandango on June 29th. You only have few more days to get the ticket. You might also want to visit the official Monte Carlo on Facebook and like their page.

I think this is one of the must see summer movies this year. Here’s a little synopsis of the movie: Grace (Selena Gomez) is an ordinary girl who becomes an accidental princess when a family summer trip to Paris turns into the fantasy of a lifetime. Living like royalty, Grace, along with her two best friends, discovers who she really is - by assuming another person's identity.

She plays two characters – both of which cross paths and then switch places for a bit. It sounds like a very interesting movie. Also starring Leighton Meester, Katie Cassidy, Cory Monteith, Andie MacDowell. Directed by Thomas Bezucha. I might going to watch this movie with my daughter.

Feel free to watch the Monte Carlo movie trailer below.

Bird Watching

Bird watching is one of my favorite things to do while sitting on our deck. We have quite a few birds around our backyard. Some of them are red winged blackbird. I haven't seen this kind of bird when we used to live in California. They are beautiful and has a unique pure black color with a splotch of red and a bit of yellow on their wing.
One day, when I was about to hang the bird feeders back after refilling them with seeds I saw these sneakers started attacking the food...lol! So, I just let them eat knowing that they're going to make a mess.
Oh, boy! They really made a big mess. I didn't expect they're going to knocked the feeder down. What the heck!
Lesson learned!

Camera Critters

The Office

Written by my friend Ian Cruz
I have always wanted satellite TV and finally decided to break down and spend the money to get it. I knew this winter was going to be a bad one and that I would possibly spending a lot of time indoors so I looked at it as more of an investment for my sanity. During the winter months my boyfriend and I spend most of our time at my house. His apartment does not have central heat like mine, plus he does not even have cable which just does not cut it with my TV habit. He has never been a big fan of any TV show but since getting satellite TV from http://www.direct.tv/ I have gotten him hooked on watching The Office. It is right up his alley with silly humor and the way the show is written, in a documentary format, is pure genius! I love that this allows for confessionals from the employees at Dunder Mifflon and all the glances at the camera every time Michael does something stupid are always perfectly timed. Our favorite episode so far is the one where Dwight takes Ryan on his first sales call and leaves him stranded in a beet field. It is so ridiculous and funny that you cannot help but to love it. I am trying to get him caught up on all the seasons so that we can start watching the newer ones too.

They have baby blankets for twins that are adorable. This baby blanket gift set for twins would be a perfect gift for anybody who is having twins. Father's Day Celebration

How's your weekend everyone? I hope you had a fantastic one! Our family had a fine weekend. Father's day was the highlight.
For this year's Father's day, hubby got a few dragon figurines, cards, and shirts.
Later, we took him to the Mirror Maze, Laser Vault, 3D Movie and dinner.
The mirror maze was quite interesting. It took us awhile to find the way to the exit.
Akesha had so much fun on the laser vault challenge. She did pretty good dodging the laser.
Our last treat for Father's day was a 3D movie. We watched Kung Fu Panda 2. It was hilarious!

Retirement Day!

Today, June 15th, marks the day of hubby's retirement from the Military. The official final day! Can I give a wooohooo?! Wohooo! Congratulations hon, finally! After serving 10 years in the Navy and 10 years in the Air Force, now is the time to keep all your military uniforms away....lol!
Since we're not in California anymore, hubby decided to not have a retirement ceremony. It would have been so great if there's a retirement ceremony for him. Instead of giving us the certificate in person, the military sent us all the certificates in the mail last week. They sent us some classified documents, US Flag and certificates.
 I have one too!
Hubby went to California a week ago to do his last annual tour in the Air Force. He was gone for 6 days. It was hard but I just sucked it up because I knew that it will be his last training in the military.
When he was there, a small ceremony was given to him in recognition of his long and valuable service to the military. Job well done, Honey! We are very proud of you! Hooah & Hooyah! (Air Force & Navy chant).

Handful of Errands

Ayay! It's the first day of the week once again. I don't like Mondays! Mondays are always a little manic aren’t they? And it seems like I’m always rushing out. Anyhow, I hope you had a wonderful weekend.
We had a handful of errands last Saturday. Saturday is always a busy day for us during weekends. We started our day by going to the dentist office.
Akesha and I had our dental appointments. I was a bit annoyed because it took us almost an hour to have our teeth cleaned. The dental hygienist was slow...lol! She's taking her time doing other stuff instead of cleaning my teeth right away. And she does a lot of talking too...lol!
After our dentist appointment, we headed to the uniform store where they cater Akesha's school uniform. We  bought her a few sets of uniform (shorts and skirts) and other school accessories.
Our last pit stop was the Commissary. I always love shopping at the military base. Cheap and tax free!

Lion Cut

Here's a couple of recent photos of my kids....:)
Buddy got a new haircut again! I cut his fur every summer and this year is no exception.
He now more looks like a lion after the haircut. I think he would look awful if I shave the neck part. I felt bad because I accidentally cut his skin, poor fella. It was just a minor cut, but I'm still guilty thinking about it.
